About Nurmijarvi
Nurmijarvi is the most populated provincial region of Finland, found 37 kilometers north of the capital Helsinki. The nearness to Helsinki has prompted an extensive development of the significant towns, for example, Klaukkala, Rajamaki and Roykka. Klaukkala is the greatest developed region of Nurmijarvi, which these days is viewed as residence town of Helsinki. Nurmijarvi actually signifies "grass lake" in spite of the fact that the lake that gave the region its name was depleted in the mid 20th century and is presently simply some level fields close to the town focus.
Nurmijarvi is best known as the origination of Finland's national creator, Aleksis Kivi 1834– 1872. His play Nummisuutarit ‘The Cobblers of the Heath’ – with brilliant scenes of country life in the 19th century Nurmijarvi ward – are performed in summer at an outside venue in Palojoki, the town where Kivi was possible. The district's crest delineates the fundamental characters in his novel Seitseman veljesta Seven Brothers. Matti Vanhanen, previous Prime Minister of Finland, lives in Lepsama in Nurmijarvi.
