About Church of the Three Crosses

Church of the Three Crosses Finnish: Kolmen Ristin kirkko; also called Vuoksenniska Church is a Lutheran church located in Kaukopaa, Imatra, Finland. The church become designed via Alvar Aalto and finished in 1958. It is said to be Aalto's maximum original church layout. The church gets its call from the three crosses on the altar. The church includes three consecutive halls which may be separated through sliding walls; this enables components of the church to be used for parish sports for the duration of the week. The outdoors of the church is white with a copper roofing.

DOCOMOMO has indexed the church as a big instance of contemporary architecture in Finland. The National Board of Antiquities has also indexed it as a nationally substantial built history site. A committee distinct through the National Board of Antiquities in 1998 to commemorate the centenary of Aalto's birth selected the church as one of the five maximum critical buildings designed by using Aalto.
