About Urs Ajmer Fair

 

Urs Ajmer Fair lets Muslims enjoy to the most. On the actual day, they visit the hallowed dargah of Sufi saint with the intention to offer him prayers and get his blessings. They also sing quwwallis and other several programs all night to create brotherhood and happiness amongst people of different backgrounds. The Urs, the death anniversary of the saint includes dazzling celebrations that continue for six days, out of which, the foremost one is the tradition to hoist of a white flag on the tomb by his successor-representative, Sajdanashin of the Chishtia order.

The tomb over the desired days is customary sprinkled on with sandalwood paste and rosewater, poetry recitation in his appreciation, and aficionados also not forget to offer nazranas in order to earn his undying benevolence. Further, in the exteriors of the dargah surrounds, you may also come across two giant cauldrons cook sweet rice seasoned with condiments and dry fruits to be dished out as sanctified food or 'tabarukh'

Last of all, during Urs, the special purchase of flowers, ornamented chadars, embroidered prayer rugs, prayer capsare, etc. can be bought from the market that spring up at the foot of the dargah and uniquely assures the revel of celebrating it.
