About Soorya Classical Music and Dance Festival

 

Soorya Classical Music and Dance Festival SCMDF is an yearly fest that adds four stars to the artistic finery of Thiruvananthapuram. It is thoughtfully organized by the Soorya Stage and Film Society, a cultural association which only exists to encourage all genre of arts vigorously. Once you are here, you will be observing multifarious dance forms presented by other artistes together with renowned celebrities who follow arts such as Kathak, Bharta Natyam, Manipuri, Kathakali, Odissi, and Mohiniyattam.

SCMDF also features some really electrifying musical concerts, famous proponents in the Carnatic and Hindustani style rich in performing vocal, jugalbandis, and instrumental soirees. Some legends like Padma Subramaniam, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Alarmel Valli, along with many musicians like Amjad Ali Khan, Zakir Husain, Bhimsen Joshi Chitra, Balamuralikrishna, etc. have also performed here and added to its overall stateliness.

However, yet another very charismatic dance and music sensation called "Parampara" is also organized by Soorya society in November where young talent is promoted and when it is held in Thiruvananthapuram, loads of tribute is given by shishyas to their respective Gurus.
