It was first celebrated on a Sunday. Initially, the town's name originated from "Pinamuhuan", which truly signifies 'a laborer's offer of the gather'. The Pinamuohan or Pamuhuan Festival is a route for inhabitants of the town of Pinamungajan to offer gratitude for the endowments they get every year. The celebration was first celebrated in 2008 because of the push of previous senator Gwen Garcia for every town and city in Cebu to hold a celebration as a feature of the way of life and legacy of their district. The name of the celebration depended on the first name of the town.
