Karansa Festival
About Karansa Festival
Karansa Festival is a prevalent joyful making festivity among the tenants of Danao, Cebu Province. The merriment incorporates different moving exhibitions, eating and drinking in festivity to the region's ceramics making livelihood. It is celebrated yearly on the third Sunday of September and in respect to the city's supporter holy person – Santo Tomas de Villanueva. The celebration is basically an upbeat and perky moving and skipping action in a joint effort with the musicality of music, pounding of the drums and periodic noisy shouts. The pot-creators move, sing, eat and drink coconut wine following multi day's earthenware making work utilizing four essential advances – influencing kiay, shaking karag and kurug and juddering karahay. Karansa is a unique word from Danao to mean communicating delight and joy among potters who have achieved their day's worth of effort. A few people say that it began from Barangay Suba of this city whose individuals are known potters.
The potters used to commend their diligent work of the day through playing out some move steps. The road exhibitions are professionally arranged by each group's educators and move teachers. There are two classifications for this opposition – basic and secondary school. Each group will be judged during their road execution in light of a few criteria, for example, ensemble, dynamic quality, coordination and general performance. Karansa is a word that is local to the place and to the general population of Barangay Suba who are known for being potters. The ceramics creators drink coconut wine and move as their demeanor of thanksgiving and to enable them to feel unwind.
