About Kapiya Display and Pasyon Singing Contest

Kapiya Display and Pasyon Singing Contest in the Santa Barbara, Iloilo in focal Philippines is a yearly challenge done on the Good Friday. The best Kapiya or scene of the 14 Stations of the Cross and the best valid vocalist of the Passion of Christ are chosen by jury who will take the rounds to choose the victors. The scene is set-up in the vital places everywhere throughout the town where the parade will pass and what makes it remarkable is that they are either works of art or made out of the human character. 

In the town of Santa Barbara, Iloilo, which is situated in the focal Philippines, an interesting Lenten custom is polished each year. Scenes, privately called kapiya, are made by neighborhood gatherings and they portray the scenes in the 14 Stations of the Cross. Made of privately sourced materials, consistently the best kapiya is picked up and wins a prize. The kapiyas are put in key areas, for the most part along the parade course. Beside this, the town additionally holds a novel singing challenge, yet rather than current tunes, they sing the conventional Pasyon or Passion of Christ, the Philippine epic story of Christ's misery.
