Kachin Manaw Festival
About Kachin Manaw Festival
Kachin people's Festivals are called Manaw Ceremonies. There are a few kinds of Manaw function, and Manaw dance is praised only in five most important occasions. Manaw ceremonies are extremely costly as everybody is welcomed. The feasts require a very long time of planning to ensure enough nourishment for the visitors. The dishes will incorporate bison meat, pork or wild hog, hamburger, chicken, rice and pots and pots of rice wine. In one festival, a large number of individuals from all towns in the district will be available in their innate luxury. In the manaw grounds, high totems painted in customary patterns in red, black and white tower over the dancers. Before them are hung the two instruments fundamental for the dance: a huge, in length drum and a metal gong.
The youngsters meet and fell in love at the dance, however it isn't at all like what might spring to mind on hearing the word. It is a delicate and moderate group dance without contacting even of the fingertips. The girls wave handkerchiefs and the boy might be permitted to hold the other corner: he can't get nearer than that. The Jingpaw ladies wear red skirts and dark velvet coats hung with bosses of silver. Their silver wears are complicatedly made, and passed on from one age to another.
