Htamane festival
About Htamane festival
Htamane festival is held between February and March, all through the entire country. Myanmar has commended the conventional Htamane Festival by holding a cooking competition at Shwedagon pagoda before Full Moon Day of Tabodwe to offer Buddha according to custom. The mixture of Htamane consists of Glutinous Rice, fried coconut shavings, roasted peanuts, toasted sesame, ground nut oil and ginger. The Htamane festival is held all through the nation consistently to celebrate and honor the achievement of the monsoon rice harvest.
This Festival helps promote solidarity and mutual help. The way toward making Htamane includes, wash and douse white and purple glutinous rice in water for around 2 hours. In the mean time make a fireplace by putting bricks in a triangle on a cleared pot of ground. The firewood is lit under the bricks and the vast iron bowl is put on the top. And after that pour ground nut oil into the bowl and heat. The considerable coconut shavings are browned in the oil with mind taken not to overcook it. At the point when the coconut is seared, expel from the bowl and the oil is depleted from it. At that point, the peanuts and cut ginger are fricasseed and the oil is depleted from it, as well. All fried ingredient are put on a plate and put aside. The soaked glutinous rice is put into the iron bowl with the ground nut oil.
At the point when the glutinous rice has been altogether blended and cooked, the mammoth bowl is expelled from the fire. The big lump of Htamane is put on a wood or metal plate secured with banana leaves that have been rubbed with eatable oil to cool. Then, the delicacy is offered to Buddha and donated to monasteries. We usually also send Htamane around the area, to family and companions as a celebration blessing. Htamane is served on the banana leaves.
