About Ananda Pagoda Festival
The Ananda Pagoda Festival is a standout amongst the most famous pagoda festivals in Bagan. It is week-long festival that is held during the month of Pyahto December to January. It is praised around the Ananda Temple, situated in Bagan, Myanmar is a Buddhist sanctuary worked in 1105 AD during the rule 1084– 1113 of King Kyanzittha of the Pagan Dynasty. It is one of four surviving sanctuaries in Bagan. The sanctuary design is in a cruciform with a few porches prompting a little pagoda at the best secured by an umbrella known as hti, which is the name of the umbrella or best decoration found in all pagodas in Myanmar.
The villagers from around Bagan come to the festival in conventional bullock carts and made camps for the entire duration of the celebration. Many famous local theatrical troupes had come also to give excitement to the celebration goers. There will be stores selling everything from foodstuff to horticultural executes. During the celebration, 1000 priests perform ceaseless droning of sacred writings for 72 hours. Thousands of villagers from miles around set up places to stay around the sanctuary. As the dawn breaks on the Fullmoon Day of Pyatho the pilgrims are up and prepared with their gifts. The priests make their way between the donors lined up on both sides and all respectfully put their donations in the priest's hands.
