About Santa Elena
Santa Elena is a municipality of El Salvador placed eight kilometers NE of the municipality Usulutan, head of the department of the equal name. During the colony, while Archbishop Pedro Cortes y Larraz became journeying the parish of Usulutan in 1770, he documented it as a hacienda belonging to the parish of Usulutan.1 By 1807, in keeping with the corregidor intendente Antonio Guriérrez y Ulloa, he became one of the cities beneath the jurisdiction of the party and parish of Usulutan.
He added that his populace became indigenous, on the whole day employees, and ladinos who lived scattered on ranches and have been engaged in the planting of corn, cotton and, to a lesser extent, indigo. On June 12, 1824, he became a part of the department of San Miguel. By 1841, it became an electoral canton. In a record via Manuel Zepeda, a police inspector from the department of San Miguel, made on June 14, 1847, it was mentioned that the currents had terrified his new battery and that was why a ditch turned into opened to offer water to the water. In order not to harm the battery once more.
