About The Osirieon- Site of the Pre-dynastic Royal Graveyard

The Osirieon or Osirion in Abydos is said to be the burial site of the ancient god-king Osiris of the pre-dynastic Egypt located at the back of very famous temple of Seti I. It is a rare composition whose construction was started by Seti I himself, but finally his grandson, Merneptah completed it. Looking at its structural designing, you will notice that it is a tomb structure presented as a cenotaph, and also proposes some near-perfect formations resembling the Valley Temple of Khafre at Giza. Further, this temple was also considered as a symbol of Seti's closeness he ever for Osiris. However, Setis stately tomb, his actual tomb is in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor which is kept open for public eye, but was buried somewhere else following the tradition famous amongst many of the pharaohs in Abydos. Today, you cannot access this momentous site of Osirieon because of the rising sand and the flooding. It is in deep ruins but still some diggings have been made to expose the texts from The Book of the Gates and The Book of What is in the Duat. Abydos in Egypt has always been a place known for featuring its "false tombs" or cenotaphs. It does not have any actual tombs to present you and only offers dead tombs buried elsewhere. However, the cemeteries of northern Saqqara as a whole are considered richer for eyes than those at Abydos. Thus comes out as the authentic worth-beholding cremating site.
