Cavafy Museum

One of Alexandria's most well known children, Constantine Cavafy 1863-1933, was a Greek Alexandrian writer who discovered acclaim and acknowledgment for his written work after his passing.

His level on what is presently Sharm el-Sheik Street is a tribute to his life and a noteworthy fascination for anybody on an Alexandrian scholarly journey.

Cavafy spent his working life as a columnist and government employee, minimal perceived for his verse outside of a little gathering of Alexandrian-based authors counting English writer EM Forster who was a champion of Cavafy's work.

His verse, however, luxuriously catches the tremendous history of Alexandria - especially its Hellenistic roots - and he has turned out to be one of the enormously praised abstract figures of the city.

The small museum contains a significant number of his compositions and correspondence.
