About Otavalo
Otavalo, capital of Otavalo Canton, has a populace largely made up of the Otavalo indigenous institution. It is positioned in Imbabura Province of Ecuador. According to the 2010 census, the metropolis has 39,354 population and has an elevation of 2,532 metres. It is surrounded by the peaks of Imbabura, Cotacachi, and Mojanda volcanoes. Gustavo Pareja is the modern mayor of Otavalo. He changed into elected in February 2014.
Many people come to Otavalo to go to the marketplace, but the metropolis and surrounding place is also domestic to the Peguche Waterfall, Lagos de Mojanda, and Museo Viviente Otavalango. The museum is located in the "antigua fabrica San Pedro," in which indigenous Otavalenos worked in sweatshop style labor for generations underneath brutal conditions. After the factory become shut down, a group of locals bought the land and have on the grounds that reclaimed the factory and its grounds as a living museum and community area for the indigenous network.
