Guayaquil is the biggest and the most crowded city in Ecuador, with around 2 million individuals in the metropolitan region, and additionally the country's principal port. The city is the capital of the area of Guayas and the seat of the namesake canton. Guayaquil is perceived by the legislature as having been established on July 25, 15381 with the name Muy Noble Muy Leal Ciudad de Santiago de Guayaquil Most Noble and Most Loyal City of St. James of Guayaquil by Spanish Conquistador Francisco de Orellana.
Indeed, even before it was established by the Spanish, it as of now existed as a local village. City Library of Guayaquil Municipal Library of Guayaquil fills in as the general population library of Guayaquil. The city has a few colleges, including the University of Guayaquil established in 1867, the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, the Escuela Politecnica del Litoral ESPOL, and the University of Specialties Espiritu Santo.
There are two noteworthy affiliation football clubs; the Barcelona Sporting Club and the Club Sports Emelec. Each club has its own particular stadium; the Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha is the home of the "Barcelonistas" while the Estadio George Capwell is the home of the "Emelecistas". These two groups have a long history of contention in Guayaquil and when these two groups play against each other the amusement is called "El Clasico del Astillero".
