About Cuenca
Santa Ana de los Cuatro Rios de Cuenca, usually called absolutely Cuenca, is the capital and largest city of the Azuay Province of Ecuador. Cuenca is located inside the highlands of Ecuador at about 2,560 metres above sea level, with an city population of approximately 400,000 and 700,000 population within the larger metropolitan area. The middle of the city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its many historical buildings.
According to studies and archeological discoveries, the origins of the first inhabitants pass returned to the year 8060 BC within the Cave of Chopsi. They have been hunters, hunting the whole thing the Páramo offered them, and nomads, following the animals and seasons. Their way of life is represented via gear which includes arrows and spears, that have been observed for the duration of the Andean valley. The way of life became most present about 5585 BC. Later the early indigenous people used the stable climate, fertile soil and considerable water to broaden agriculture. They grew potatoes, melloco, chocho, squash and quinoa. They also domesticated animals which include cuys and camelids: llamas and alpacas.
