About Columbus Lighthouse
Columbus Lighthouse is a monument placed in Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic, in tribute to Christopher Columbus. Construction started out in 1986 using plans drawn by Scottish architect J.L. Gleave in 1931, in time for the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of the Americas by means of Europeans, the monument changed into inaugurated in 1992. It become funded via the Latin American states and the total fee of production changed into about US$70 million. The monument's lighthouse-fashion features projecting beams of mild, forming a cross shape, that are so powerful they may be seen from neighboring Puerto Rico. According to the Dominican government, remains of Christopher Columbus are sheltered at the lighthouse.
However, Spanish authorities have proved through DNA exams that the remains in the Cathedral of Seville are the actual stays of Columbus. The Dominican authorities have not allowed the equal DNA tests to be accomplished to the stays within the lighthouse, so it is impossible to recognise if the remains of Columbus are divided or if the remains in the lighthouse belonged to every other character.
