About Balzar
Balzar is a metropolis located in northern Guayas Province, Ecuador, on the Daule River, near Los Ríos Province. It is the seat of Balzar Canton, and the rural middle in northern Guayas. As of the census of 2001, there are 48,470 people dwelling within canton limits. The most vital river is the Daule River, used for transportation.
Agriculture is the primary interest. In 1964 a Danish agricultural engineer and pioneer in organic farming, offered the farm Hacienda Karen, positioned on the Rio Daule banks some miles from Template:Balzar, from Shell director Hans Bach. Carl Vilhelm Dencker-Rasmussen, on shopping the Hacienda, experimented in rubber planting, tobacco developing and rice planting. The rice planting was done at a strategically crucial time of the year while the rains came. Channels have been dug just like the rice fields Dencker-Rasmussen had seen in Malaysia many years before, resulting in successful crops. Rice had previously been brought in from outside and subsequently became one of the essential alternative staple diets for the place rather than the sweet potato and maize traditionally used. Author: RM Dencker-Rasmussen.
