Voergaard Castle is a moated Renaissance manor house placed 10 km north of Dronninglund on the North Jutland peninsula in north-western Denmark. It is open to the general public and homes a significant artwork collection. In 1955 Voergaard become acquired by way of Ejnar Oberbech-Clausen, a Dane who had lived in France due to the fact that 1906 in which he had become a depend thru his marriage with Marie Henriette Chenu-Lafitte, the widow of his former organisation, and an Imperial Count within the Holy Roman Empire. Chenu-Lafitte changed into the daughter of Jules-Emile Pean, one of the notable French surgeons of the nineteenth century, and owned an extensive art collection which originated each from her father and deceased husband.
The couple owned several châteaus within the place round Bordeaux but after his spouse's death, in an air raid in 1941, Oberbech-Clausen moved to Paris and later determined to return to his local Denmark. He acquired Voergaard and, with approval from the French country, added 12 train motors of art with him lower back to Denmark. He undertook a comprehensive and highly-priced recovery of the castle which went on for several years. After his loss of life in 1963, the fort and collections had been exceeded to a foundation and opened to the public.
