About Viking Ship Museum
The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde is Denmark's countrywide museum for ships, seafaring and boatbuilding in the prehistoric and medieval period. The fundamental cognizance of the museum is a permanent exhibition of 5 authentic Viking ships excavated nearby in 1962. The Viking Ship Museum also conducts studies and educates researchers inside the fields of maritime records, marine archaeology and experimental archaeology. Various academic meetings are held here and there's a studies library in association with the museum.
Around the 12 months 1070, 5 Viking ships have been intentionally sunk at Skuldelev in Roskilde Fjord which will block the most essential fairway and to guard Roskilde from an enemy assault from the sea.
