About Viby
Viby J or simply Viby is a former town and now a district, within the southwestern a part of Aarhus in Denmark. The district has nearly 30,000 inhabitants. The "J" stands for Jutland, as there is every other metropolis known as Viby at the island of Zealand, formally called Viby Sj. Viby derives from the Old Norse words vi and by, that means holy place and town respectively. Vi is a phrase represented in many vicinity names in each Denmark and Sweden. Several locations are named Viby in both Denmark and Sweden and vi is also found in names like Viborg or the Swedish towns of Odensvi, Torsvi, Frösvi, Ullavi or Visby.
Vi refers to "an enclosed holy location" and it's miles believed, that Viby was as soon as a holy area in which the Norse Gods were worshipped, with one or numerous cult houses. The shrines were probable positioned at what was formerly referred to as Tyrseng - the region across the massive affiliation football fields in the southwest of Viby.
