About Slangerup
Slangerup is a metropolis in Frederikssund municipality, approximately 30 km north-west of crucial Copenhagen, within the Capital Region of Denmark. The city was set up by using the Viking Slangir at the time of Harald Bluetooth. King Eric I of Denmark ca. 1070-July 1103, changed into born in Slangerup. In the 13th century the city become the scene of sports related to each Bishop Absalon and Valdemar the Great. Thomas Kingo grew up and was priest within the metropolis throughout the 17th century.
Until 1 January 2007, Slangerup was also a municipality masking an area of 46 km² with a complete population of 9,237 2005. Slangerup Municipality ceased due to the 2007 Municipal Reform Kommunalreformen, being merged into Frederikssund municipality at the side of Jægerspris and Skibby municipalities. This created a municipality with a place of 260 km² and a total populace of ca. 44,one hundred forty.
