The two-storey keeper's house to which it is attached is painted vibrant yellow. When it turned into built it became extra or less on the centre of the Skagen Odde peninsula, however as a result of coastal erosion, it's far now very near the Kattegat coast to the southeast. The lighthouse has a -ton rotating lens resting on mercury. Originally there has been a five-wicked paraffin lamp which became successively replaced with a 1,000 Watt then a 1,500 Watt electric lamp. Today there's a 400 Watt sodium lamp which each four seconds can be seen as much as 37 km 20 mi away.
