About Sjaelso
Sjaelso is a lake straddling the borders between the municipalities of Rudersdal, Allerod and Hørsholm in North Zealand to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Situated immediately to the north of the suburban town of Birkerod, it is surrounded by a mixture of farmland, pastures and small woodlands. The lake has an area of 293 hectares and is quite shallow. It is fed with the aid of five minor streams and drains into the Oresund although Usserod A. It is owned by way of Nordvand A/S. The name Sjælso approach "skelso and refers to its role at the border between several parishes and hundreds. Sjælso turned into owned by the crown from 1391 till 1898.
It become then sold in public public sale to 3 fishermen whose families owned it until 1932 whilst it turned into offered to "Fællesudvalget for vandindvinding ved Sjælso", a partnershop among the municipalities of Sollerod, Lyngby-Taarbæk and Gentofte. The first water works opened at the lake in 1936 and a 2nd one opened in 1062. The latter remained in use until 1998. Birkerød's Kajerød neighbourhood is positioned simply south of the lake. The small metropolis of Ravnsnæs is located on a small peninsula inside the southeastern nook of the lake. The vintage village of Sjælsmark is located on the north facet of the lake.
