About Nyso Manor
Nyso Manor, positioned close to Præsto within the southeast of the Danish island of Sealand, become built in 1673 for Jens Lauridsen, a local functionary. It now homes the Thorvaldsen Collection, a set of works through the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, who lived and labored there in his later years. The first manor house in Denmark to be designed inside the Baroque style, it is constructed in purple brick and sandstone with a pink-tiled roof and a granite plinth as a foundation.
It is concept to be the work of grasp builder Ewert Janssen who likely also built Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen rapidly afterwards. The residence consists of a first-rate wing with eleven bays and lateral wings to the north with an front in among. The significant initiatives on the north and south aspects are decorated with 4 Ionic pilasters which guide triangular pediments. On the north facet, there is a clock with figures whose bells strike the hour.
