Silkeborg Museum has changed its call to Museum Silkeborg and is a museum of Danish cultural records with official state reputation. Museum Silkeborg is positioned at three exceptional addresses: The Manor House and the Paper Mill Museum in Silkeborg and Blicheregnen inside the village of Thorning. Silkeborg Hovedgård was built between 1767 and 1770 by means of Rittmeister Hans Nicolai Hoff after he had acquired Silkeborg Castle, whose buildings had fallen into melancholy. From 1846, a room in the building changed into used as a chapel for employees at the brand new Silkeborg Paper Factory and later the constructing was used as a post office.

The museum became based in 1904 and is home to the Tollund Man, one of the most well-preserved obviously mummified Pre-Roman Iron Age lavatory our bodies observed in Denmark. Other exhibitions cover the Viking Age, Middle Ages, Silkeborg Castle, Silkeborg as a forested area and a collection of vintage glass and nearby pottery.
