Land of Legends - A land to explore

The Land of Legends, Centre for Historical-Archaeological Research and Communication is a 106-acre archaeological open-air museum situated within the Lejre Municipality, few kilometres west of Roskilde. Land of Legends was based in 1964 by way of ethnologist Hans-Ole Hansen and include reconstructions of an Iron Age village and sacrificial bog, a Viking marketplace vicinity, a Stone Age campsite, an 18th-century farmstead and diverse grave monuments. The historic artisan workshops paintings to reproduce historic handicraft. Gardens, pastures and fields are the natural state of affairs of sports and reconstructions.

At the Land of Legends Lejre, the activities for the public makes use of preceding techniques, known from historic files, archaeological evidence or experimental archaeology. Each summer many households spend every week in their vacations inside the Iron Age village, the farm cottages and the Stone Age campsite. They dress in length costume and take on the role of peopling the reconstructed areas, whilst seeking to live the usage of the strategies of the beyond.
