About Keldby Church
Keldby Church, well-known for its frescoes, is located on the primary street to Mons Klint in the village of Keldby, 4 km east of Stege at the Danish island of Mon. The imposing red brick church is one of the three Mon churches adorned with frescos by using the Elmelunde Master, in all likelihood towards the stop of the 15th century. In the Biblia pauperum fashion, they gift most of the maximum popular stories from the Old and New Testaments. There are also a number of earlier frescoes inside the church dating back to approximately 1275.
The authentic nave and choir had been built in the first half of of the thirteenth century. Around 1480, the nave was accelerated with cross vaults and the choir was heightened with limestone. The tower become added in the sixteenth century and a small sacristy turned into constructed about 1700. The richly carved altar triptych and the pulpit are possibly from the late fifteenth century or early 16th century.
