About Hirtshals
Hirtshals is a city and seaport on the coast of Skagerrak on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark, Europe. It is positioned in Hjørring municipality in Region Nordjylland. The city of Hirtshals has a population of five,959. Located at the Skagerrak, it's miles specifically known for its fishing and ferry harbours. The city of Hirtshals evolved across the artificial harbour which turned into constructed between 1919 and 1931. In 1925, the Hjorring-Hirtshals railway line opened to link the port of Hirtshals with the Danish rail network. In 1966, the harbour was accelerated and have become one among the most important fishing ports in Denmark.
Until 1 January 2007, Hirtshals become also the seat of Hirtshals Municipality which turned into merged with present Hjorring, Lokken-Vra and Sindal municipalities to shape an enlarged Hjorring Municipality. Hirtshals is located at the sand and clay promontory Hirtshals, overlooking the Skagerrak among the Jammer Bay and the Tannis Bay. The coastline is sponsored by means of low cliffs, underneath which is a slender and rocky seashore.
