About Gurre Castle
Gurre Castle Danish: Gurre Slot was a royal castle in North Zealand in Denmark. Its ruins lie at the outskirts of Helsingor, close to the city of Tikob on the lake at Gurre Valdemar IV of Denmark died inside the fortress in 1375. The citadel, now a spoil, was constructed in the 12th century. Four towers and a perimeter wall had been brought inside the 1350s. It became excavated in the 19th century from 1835 and is now restored.
