Arrival to Colombo & Transfer to Kandy Tour & Cultural Show

Upon arrival at the Colombo/’s Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be promptly received by our representative and transported comfortably to Kandy. Enjoy the long drive and on the way stop to visit Pinnawela Elephant orphanage (2 hrs. drive).

Dating back to 1975, the orphanage houses wounded and abandoned elephants, which now accounts for more than 65 in numbers. You could enjoy watching the feeding of baby elephants and bathing of elephants at the river. Not too late before the lunch you will reach Kandy. Check-in to your hotel and refresh.

In the evening you have an exclusive chance to see Sri Lanka/’s traditional Kandyan dances with optimal photo opportunities. The dance performance includes a variety of dances such as the cobra dance, mask dance and the Ginisila (an amazing fire walking act). Later return to hotel to rest and to enjoy a sound sleep.

Today after a delicious breakfast at the hotel, check out from the hotel and proceed for a tour of Kandy by visiting the 17th century ’Temple of the Tooth’, which is believed to have housed the left upper canine tooth of Lord Budhha. The interiors of the temple buildings are grandiosely embellished with inlaid woods, ivory, and lacquer. The relic of the tooth is kept in an inner chamber on the upper floor and well protected. The relic is encased in seven gold caskets decorated with precious stones.

On your way to Nuwara Eliya stop at Ramboda Pass to watch the 109 m high waterfalls situated in Pussellawa area. As you get more close to the quirky town of Nuwara Eliya, the tea producing region, you will soon realize a dramatic rise in elevation and climate change which will give you a feeling of numbness out of the cool weather. Once you are in Nuwara Eliya, check-in to the hotel and rest.

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to explore the city of Nuwara Eliya and often referred as the /‘Little England/’ in Sri Lanka. First you will visit the Victoria Park. The park is one of the well-maintained town parks located at the centre of the town. Then drive to Nuwara Eliya racecourse situated 1,868 metres above sea level. It is one of the highest racecourses in the world. Then proceed to Colombo through the winding roads of the mountains and check into the hotel.

By late afternoon you will be picked up from the hotel for a tour of Colombo. Visit the Fort area of Colombo, where you will find a mixture of buildings from many eras of the cities past. The Fort is the core financial center and business district of Sri Lanka which headquarters many banks on the Island. Not to miss the Wolvendaal Church located in Pettah, one of the oldest Protestant churches still in use in the country. After visiting Colombo/’s vast Independence Square in the evening, return to hotel for a relaxing sleep overnight.
