Taj Mahal - one of the seven wonders of the world built by emperor Shah Jahan in Love of his beloved wife and the construction of Taj went on for over 17 years and the hard work of around 20,000 men laborers. Its Lush Gardens and the huge area makes a building a memorable and a must visit place in Agra and the masterwork done with Precious and Semi Precious stones are a must watch. Red fort - The rusty and majestic red- sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river yamuna and the constructed by Emperor Akbar in 1566. Diwan-i-am (hall of public audience), a colonnaded hall made of red-sandstone with a throne alcove of inlaid marble at the back where the emperor heard public petitions. Diwan-i-khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the emperor used to sit on his gem-studded peacock throne and used to meet foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms.
