Hadimba Temple:- Hadimba Temple in Kullu Manali is one of the main tourist places in Manali for the visitors. It is around 1. 5 Kms from the Mall Road. It is an old wooden temple of four store, located in the middle of dense forest known as Van Vihar. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Hadimba and was erected in 1553. THE HISTORY OF HADIMBA TEMPLE Hadimba has been worshipped in this particular area in Mahabharata. Few of the sub mountainous tracts of the Himalayas were ruled by Hadimb Rakshah. Hadimba was his sister. In their move about without a definite purpose the Pandavas and their mother, came to the territory of Hadimba Rakshash after escaping from wax house. Bhima fell in love with Hadimba and wanted to marry her but the condition was that he could marry her only after killing the brother. Both lived in the area for about one year and then he joined his brother and mother. On the other side Hadimba gave birth to a son 'Ghototkachh'. , Hadimba looked after her country till the time Ghototkachh was a child. Vashisth:- Vashisht is located at a distance of about 6 km away from the beautiful town of Manali in the Kullu district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. History Of Vashisht: - Across River Beas, about three kilometers from Manali at an altitude of 2, 100 metres is the village Vashisht. It has a 4, 000-year-old temple dedicated to sage Vashisht. Legend has it that Rishi Vashisht felt most hurt and sad when he learnt that all his sons were killed by Viswamitra. The temple is also famous for its hot sulphur springs. According to legend, Lakshmana who visited this ashram of Vashisht found that his guru had to go far off for his bath. Inside the temple there is a black stone image of the Rishi, clad in dhoti. On the left side of the spring, there is a Rama temple in which the idols of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana have been installed. Dussehra is celebrated for seven days. The village was the centre of Vaishnava cult for a long time. A large number of people visit these hot springs near Manali every day in order to take a dip. Due to huge number of Tibetan peoples settled in Kullu Manali Tibetan Monasteries has been set up. The main attraction of the monastery is the handicrafts of Tibetan artistry and the carpets that are woven and sold in the monastery. The Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa in Manali was constructed in the year 1969. The architecture of the monastery represents the Tibetan style of architecture designed with hued frescoes. The monastery is run by the local people who gather funds through donations 5. VAN VIHAR:- COMPLEMENTRY Van Vihar National Park in Manali is visited by many locals and tourists. The park located on the mall road, opposite the Tibetan market has many huge deodar trees giving cool shade to the area. Van Vihar Park is a favorite picnic spot for the whole family. Wooden and cement benches are provided throughout the park where one can sit and relax. Children can play on the swings and the whole family can engage in some boating activities at the pond inside the park. Well laid out paths within the park is ideal for a stroll, especially for young couples. River Beas just about borders the park and the boating facility is also available. Van Vihar Park is open from 8 am to 7 pm up to 5 pm in the winter and entry fee is INR 5/- and 10/- for children and adults respectively. Charge for boating is INR 30/- for 15 minutes. 6. Mall Road:- Mall road is located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh and is known as one of the must visit attractions of this region. Description: Manali is one of the best hill stations situated in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and Mall Road is the main street of Manali, which is worth visiting. There are numerous shops, which are situated on both sides of the Mall road and it is open for vehicles as well.
