Today early in the morning have packed breakfast and transfer to railway station to take train for Jhansi. On arrival in Jhansi meet and assist and transfer to vehicle and drive to Orachha which is 20 Kms from Jhansi. Orchha is a very old and beautiful town built in the year 1501 by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh. This place showcases an exquisite range of archaeological monuments. The ambiance of the town is very pleasing and the location on the banks of river Betwa also adds to the serenity of the town. Though the word ‘Orchha’ means a hidden place, this town is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty. There are numerous ancient temples that date back to the 16th and 17th century. Despite of being a small town, it has various spots that attract tourists like ants being drawn to a piece of jaggery. Attractions like Rai Parveen Mahal, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Jahangir Mahal, Ram Raja temple, Raj Mahal, and Phool Bagh are worth visiting. The world-class Mural Paintings on the walls of the temples and buildings are another major attraction of the town.
Later after the visits continue driving to Khajuraho. The Khajuraho group of temples is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, famous for its fascinating erotic sculptures. Located in Madhya Pradesh, this group of temples includes few dominated by the Jain religion whereas some are dedicated to Hindu religion. Khujaraho was declared as the 1st capital of Chandelas, who ruled Bundelkhand during the 10th to the 14th centuries. Khujaraho gets its name from the date palm tree (the Khajur tree), found in abundant in this area. Presently, the Khajuraho group of temples included 22 temples, which initially included 85 temples. It almost took 100 years for the construction of the temples, mid of 9th century to the early 12th century and were constructed following the Nagara style of architecture. Every temple is unique in its own way and each reflects the magnificence of prosperous era of Indian art & architecture.
The temples of Khajuraho are different from each other as there are no deities, religion or worshipping traits to follow, temple is about looking up to the spectacular architecture, art and sculpture of that particular period. In the 19th century, these magnificent were revived and restored after being deserted and susceptible to natural forces.
On arrival check in hotel and relax.
Overnight stay at Hotel in Khajuraho.
I would also suggest that for somebody who has only 3 days free, spending day on a train is not what they want to do - which was in the Ami itineraries.
