8 Days 7 Nights Rishikesh to Bagani Park Vacation Package

On the first day of your trek, you’ll be driving from Rishikesh to Joshimath. The entire journey takes you through the mountain side, with the river ganges flowing below you. You also get to witness the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi to form river Ganges.

The scenic drive from Joshimath to Jumma is on a part bumpy road which meanders along the Dhauliganga River on its right. The trail starts with a steel suspension bridge over the Dhauliganga after which the ascent of Ruing begins. At around 2800m above sea level, Ruing is a beautiful village, located on gentle slopes and amidst lush coniferous forests of firs, deodars and spruces. There might be restrictions on camping in the village area. So, we’ll trek further for 2-3 km and camp on a picturesque meadow.

The route to Dronagiri Village is full of mud slides and small rivulets, while you walk on the path that goes up and down. Feast your eyes with the snow laden peaks of Hathi and Ghori Parvat as you make your way closer to the village. The scene is straight out from a Swiss alpine landscape. The Dronagiri village is a small settlement that lies in the alpine grassland ecological zone and at an altitude of 3610m ASL. Pitch your tents in the outskirts of the village and go for a hike to Bhumial God Temple closeby.

As you start hiking upwards, the stunning Rishi Peak starts peeking from the horizon. After a 30 min walk you’ll come across a concrete bridge over the Bagini Nala. The area here is completely devoid of the vegetation and is mostly rocks and boulders. There is a patch of green beside a stream which we reach after an hour and 15 minutes from the bridge. From here a gentle trek of roughly 3 hours will bring you to the first in the series of three Bagini Glacier base camps. This is the lower base camp and we’ll call it for the day.

Begin your trek early to catch the sunrise from Changabang base camp, which is around 3-4 kms from Bagini Advanced Base Camp. Leave your rucksack in the base camp and carry only the necessary accessories. The road is full of moraine, and you will spot a number of crevasses on the Bagini glacier. Changabang Base Camp is a huge amphitheatre. The peaks which are visible from here are Hathi6507m, Ghori, Satminal6911m, Dunagiri east7066m, Garur peak, Trishuli7057m, Hardeul7323m, Rishi6099m, Kalanka6931m, and Changabang7174m. Retrace the same path and travel back to the base camp.

Post breakfast, follow the same path downwards to reach Ruing village and set camp for overnight.

Begin our final section of your on-foot excursion to reach Jumma. From here you will be driven to Joshimath. It’s time to relax and recover from the trek. Overnight stay in a guest house.

Today we board our awaiting vehicle to drive us back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way and trip finishes at the arrival in Rishikesh.
