About Leventis Municipal Museum
The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia in Nicosia, Cyprus, is home to an extensive collection of Cypriot works include archaeological artifacts, costumes, photographs, medieval pottery, maps and engravings, jewels, and furniture. The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia shows the history and social improvement of the city of Nicosia from the Chalcolithic time frame 3000BC to the present day. The exhibition hall was established in 1984 after the activity of the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr Lellos Demetriades. The exhibition hall is named after its contributor Anastasios G. Leventis Foundation which purchased and reestablished the building and its directed by the Municipality of Nicosia.
In 1985, the Association of the Friends of the Museum was built up. Its principle objective is to help with advancing the historical center's accumulations. Anybody may join this relationship at a yearly membership expense of 5 Cyprus Pounds. On April 20, 1989, the Municipality of Nicosia and the Anastasios G. Leventis Foundation opened the gallery to general society, the principal chronicled historical center in Cyprus. The accumulations showed in its lasting displays speak to more than 5.000 long periods of the capital's history. The accumulation of the Museum were set up after 1984. A large portion of them were accumulated from gifts, private accumulations, supporting and unique financing from the Anastasios G. Leventis Foundation. Gifts related with the history and social improvement of Nicosia are constantly welcome.
