Zeljezna vrata

They are Roman, the first name of the PORTA OCCIDENTALIS, and are the main of all the four through which the life of every one of the 17 centuries of Split history has been amassed. As they opened on the primary day, they saw every one of the ieties through which the city had gone from Roman circumstances, through the Middle Ages to the present day, of all expert and impact, so that right up 'til the present time the ringers of the Renaissance welcome welcomed their city and their Spilts. On the grid was at one time the alleviation of Nike, the Roman goddess of triumph, yet in the fifth century, Christians had delegated the cross in its place as its image. In the eleventh century over the entryway was manufactured a congregation of Our Lady of Zvonik, initially devoted to St. Theodoros, with a lovely early Romanesque ringer tower. In the Middle Ages the space inside the entryway was utilized as a court, and until only fifty years prior there was the domain of little shops.
