About Orahovica
Orahovica is a city in Slavonia, Croatia. It is located at the slopes of the mountain Papuk and located at the state avenue D2 Varazdin, Koprivnica, Nasice Osijek. The name Orahovica is derived from the word orah, that means a walnut tree. Orahovica become first officially noted inside the year 1228, in a historical record issued by way of king Andrew II. Ruzica fortification, no longer far from Orahovica, become first noted in the year 1357 as a royal estate.
In the 15th and the first third of the 16th century the town was a thriving community owned with the aid of numerous patricians Nikola Kont, Lovro Ilocki, Ladislav More etc. Suleiman II, in his 1542 campaign, conquered Orahovica. It became renamed as Rahovice and initially changed into kaza centre in Sanjak of Pojega, which to start with part of Budin Eyalet 1542 to 1580, later in Bosna Eyalet 1580 to 1600 and sooner or later in Kanije Eyalet. It became a brilliant sanjak centre in Kanije Eyalet in 1601. The Turkish rule lasted until the year 1687.
