Obrovac

Obrovac is a town placed in northern Dalmatia, in the Zadar County of Croatia. The Obrovac municipality has a total population of 4,323 people. The city is placed inside the canyon of the river Zrmanja. Obrovac is a metropolis at the Zrmanja River a few 11 km from the mouth of the river of the Novigrad sea. Above the town are the ruins of a fortified metropolis. Its tributary Krupa attracts severa day-trippers, and in recent times, rafting, canoe, and kayak fanatics. Not a long way from the metropolis of Krupa is a monastery with a valuable icon series.

About 2 km north-west of the city, alongside the road heading as much as the mountains, lies a big deserted industrial complicated, an alumina plant built inside the Seventies. Obrovac first got its call in 1337. In 1527 Obrovac become taken over by using the Ottoman Turks. In October 1683, the populace of Venetian Dalmatia, principally Uskoks of Ravni kotari, took palms and together with the rayah of the Ottoman frontier areas rose up, taking Skradin, Karin, Vrana, Benkovac and Obrovac. In 1687, Stojan Jankovic, a Morlach chief, forced the Ottomans out of Obrovac.
