Medvednica is a mountain in significant Croatia, simply north of Zagreb, and marking the southern border of the ancient location of Zagorje. The highest height, at 1,1/2 m is Sljeme. Most of the region of Medvednica is a nature park , a kind of protection lesser than a country wide park. The place of the park is 228.26 km2 and about 63% is covered with wooded area.
During Miocene and Pliocene, the mountain became an island in the Pannonian Sea. The climate of the Medvednica mountain is usual for Central European mountain ranges. The average annual precipitation is round 1300 mm which gives for an abundance of rich spring wells. Snow cowl lasts for approximately 100 days in a year, the thickest being in February. The skiing slopes also are included with synthetic snow while vital. Much more sunshine occurs at some point of the winter on Medvednica than in Zagreb or Zagorje, so it is not surprising that wintry weather is the maximum visited season on the Medvednica mountain.
