About Medimurje
Medimurje County is a triangle-fashioned county in the northernmost part of Croatia, roughly similar to the ancient and geographical area of Međimurje. Despite being the smallest Croatian county through size, it's miles the most densely populated one. The county seat is Cakovec, which is also the largest metropolis of the county. The county borders Slovenia inside the north-west and Hungary in the east, with approximately 30 kilometers of Slovenian territory separating it from Austria.
The south east nook of the county is near the city of Legrad and the confluence of the Mura into the Drava. The closest cities consist of Varazdin, Koprivnica and Bjelovar in Croatia, Murska Sobota and Maribor in Slovenia, as well as Nagykanizsa in Hungary and Graz in Austria. The Croatian capital of Zagreb is about 90 kilometers south-west of Cakovec. The first organized human habitations right here can be traced lower back to the Stone Age. There is a Neolithic website referred to as Ferencica near Prelog. There are archaeological websites that date from the Bronze Age, and 3rd century sites referred to as Ciglisce and Varascine.
