Korcula is a Croatian island within the Adriatic Sea. It has a place of 279 km2; forty six.8 km long and on average 7.8 km huge and lies just off the Dalmatian coast. Its 15,522 population make it the second most populous Adriatic island after Krk and the maximum populous Croatian island not linked to the mainland by using a bridge. The population are nearly totally ethnic Croats. The island is twinned with Rothesay in Scotland. The island of Korčula belongs to the important Dalmatian archipelago, separated from the Pelješac peninsula through a slender Strait of Peljesac, between 900 and three,000 metres huge.
It stretches within the east-west course, in period of forty seven kilometres; on average, it's far 8 km extensive. With an area of 279 square kilometres, it's miles the 6th biggest Adriatic island. The maximum peaks are Klupca, 568 metres and Kom, 510 metres excessive. Main settlements on the island are towns of Korcula, Vela Luka and Blato. Villages along the coast are Brna, Lumbarda, Racisce, and Prizba; Zrnovo, Pupnat, Smokvica and Cara are placed inland.
