About Church of Saint Michael

The Church of Saint Michael is a Roman Catholic church in Osijek, Croatia. It is placed in Tvrda. Jesuits laid the inspiration stone on 31 July 1725 on the foundation of Kasimpasa mosque, which became constructed at some point of Ottoman duration in Osijek. A mosque is an area of worship for Muslims. In 1734 the first Mass become held inside the unfinished church. In 1750 the church turned into committed to Saint Michael. It was completed in 1768. Michael is an archangel in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran structures of faith, he's known as "Saint Michael the Archangel" and "Saint Michael". In the Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox religions, he's called "Saint Michael the Taxiarch".

In 1991, in the course of the Croatian War of Independence the church was damaged, but in 1999 it turned into renovated. The Croatian War of Independence turned into fought from 1991 to 1995 between Croat forces unswerving to the authorities of Croatia which had d independence from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Serb-managed Yugoslav People's Army and local Serb forces, with the JNA finishing its fight operations in Croatia via 1992.
