About Baska Voda
Baska Voda is a municipality in Croatia within the Split Dalmatia County. It has a population of 2,775 96.2% of that are Croats. It is located at the Adriatic coastline of Dalmatia 10 km northwest of Makarska. In historical instances, the little village of Bast nestled by means of a freshwater spring which provided the Biokovo place.
During the 18th century, after the expulsion of the Turks, its inhabitant left the slopes of St. Ilija's Ridge and descended to the shore, in which they set up Baska Voda, these days a famous traveler lodge at the Makarska Riviera. The name Baska Voda is mythological in origin and is linked with Biston, the patriarch of the Thracian Biston tribe, son of Ares, the Greek god of struggle, and the goddess Calliope, protectress of water. The navy fortress and springs close to Baska Voda bear out this theory. Some of the richest archaeological websites which have yielded unearths from Roman instances are on the heights of Gradina and its surroundings.
