About Hojancha
Hojancha is the eleventh and remaining canton of the province of Guanacaste, in Costa Rica and is positioned at the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula. It is the new canton of the province, in addition to the smallest one due to its territorial extension. It borders the cantons of Nicoya and Nandayure and has a slender exit to the ocean to the southwest in Puerto Carrillo. Its head is the city of Hojancha.
In pre-Columbian times the territory that presently corresponds to the canton of Hojancha, become part of one of the provinces of the indigenous people known as Chorotegas, positioned in the Nicoya peninsula, whose domains reached Lake Nicaragua, along with numerous cities or manors. The first settlers who came to the location in 1910 got here from Matambu and the cantons of San Ramon, Atenas, and Palmares, amongst which have been the households of Messrs. Barrantes, Bermudez, Mora, Quesada, Quiros, Venegas, amongst others. The first faculty was established in 1914, within the first administration of Mr. Ricardo Jiménez Oreamuno, with the name of Escuela Nosara.
