About Belen
Belen is the 7th canton of the province of Heredia, Costa Rica. It is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area, wherein the housing region constitutes at the least 25% of the floor area of the canton. It has a territorial region of 12.15 km² and is split into three districts. It limits to the north and west with the nook of Alajuela, to the east with Flores and Heredia, and to the south with San Jose, Escazu, and Santa Ana.
It became based on June 8, 1907. Its head is the city of San Antonio. According to the National Census of 2011, the population of the canton became 21,633 population, of which 12.0% were born abroad. The equal census highlights that there had been 6,011 occupied dwellings, of which 82.5% had been in proper condition and there were troubles of overcrowding in 2.9% of the dwellings. 100.0% of its population lived in city areas. The first population of what these days constitute the Bethlehem canton had been the Huetares Indians; territory that at the beginning of the Conquest was part of the Huetar Kingdom of the West, whose king was Garabito.
