About Exceptional Kahuzi-Biega National Park
Recognized as a safe haven for rare species of birds and animals, the Kahuzi-Biega National Park is a Natural World Heritage Site, d in 1980. It contains a total land area of 600,00 hectares, and is located in the Kivu Region in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The park shares its Kahuzi-Biega National Parkeighborhood with the Rwandan border and the Kivu Lake, and is also an ancient habitat for gorillas. The name of the park is kept after two extinct volcanoes, Mount Biga 2,790 m. Mount Kahuzi is the highest in this part of Kivu.
