About Plaza de San Antonio
Make a point to visit Plaza de San Antonio, an extensive open court arranged on the southern end of the downtown focus, and particularly neighboring the station that interfaces the two metro lines.
While the court itself is better than average, the real inspiration to come here is to see the Botero statue that was detonated.
In 1995, 10 kilos of hazardous were full into the winged animal statue before an extensive show happened. It was detonated in the midst of the festivals and killed 29 people and hurt no less than 200.
The bomb was attributed to the narcotraficantes that were discharging chaos on the adjacent tenants.
Botero asked that they leave the statue in San Antonio as a sign of the savage history that has tormented this city. Another feathered animal sits close by the old besieged out shell, as a fantasy Medellin's calm future.
