About Zhangjiagang
Zhangjiagang, formerly Shazhou County, is a district level city under the organization of Suzhou, Jiangsu region, China and one of the numerous ports along the Yangtze river. With 1,246,762 occupants at the 2010 census, the city is presently part of Jiangyin-Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang metropolitan region with 3,526,260 occupants. Proceeded with development will incorporate the Yangtze River Delta metropolitan area. It fringes the prefecture-level urban communities of Taizhou and Nantong over the Yangtze River, and Wuxi toward the west. Zhangjiagang is gotten from a port in the city, while the port is named after a tributary, Zhangjia.
The region of the city was under locale of Jiyang township, Piling province amid the Han tradition. It was exchanged to Jiyang region which set up in 281, while the eastern piece of Jiyang was isolated as Nansha area in 335. Nansha was converged into Changshu and in like manner Liangfeng was converged into Jiangyin. The two provinces were divided formally by three waterways whose names were Chuan Gang, Jiejing He and South Gudu Gang since 1667. In 1874, a waterway called Chang Tong group differentiating then Changshu and Nantong was assembled.
