About Yancheng
Yancheng is a prefecture-level city in northeastern Jiangsu area, People's Republic of China. As the city with the biggest jurisdictional zone in Jiangsu, Yancheng fringes Lianyungang toward the north, Huai'an toward the west, Yangzhou and Taizhou toward the southwest, Nantong toward the south, and the Yellow Sea toward the east. Yancheng, truly "Salt City", is named after the salt gather fields encompassing the city.
As indicated by chronicled records, accumulation and creation of ocean salt in the locale started as right on time as 119 BC, amid the Western Han Dynasty, when the settlement on the ebb and flow area of Yancheng was named Yandu County. Yancheng has a past filled with a long time since the principal canton was established here in Han Dynasty at year 119 BC. It was named for the salt saves in waterways around the zone, its name truly signifying "Salt City". In later years, the city was the home of Fan Zhongyan, the 12th century statesman and Shi Nai'an, the rumored creator of popular novels. Yancheng was in the spotlight amid the Chinese Civil War from the 1930s to 1940s. The New Fourth Army driven by the Communist Party of China was restored in Yancheng in the wake of being trapped and battered by the foe.
